Ibero-American research specialized on Scientometrics
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the evolution and characteristics of Ibero-American scientific production published in leading international Scientometrics-focused journals. Descriptive bibliometrics was used as a method, and the interpretive approach was framed within historical and epistemological perspectives. The knowledge domain was delineated and analyzed using bibliographic records from five journals and one specialized conference proceedings in Scientometrics, all indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection. The characteristics of 1734 documents with at least one Ibero-American author, published between 1983 and 2024, were examined. The study revealed the consolidation of a regional domain with its own identity, which has become a scientific school due to its cognitive and social contributions. Sustained growth in scientific production was observed, along with thematic diversification that reflects the interdisciplinary nature of research, and collaboration structured through important regional and global networks.
