Abstract

This work shows the central role of the agent intellect, not only in speculative knowledge (as amply described by the Scholastics) but also in practical knowledge. It is crucial both in the perception of the first moral principles and in the determination of the practical truth about what is good and convenient in a given situation. The demonstration of the above relies on the distinction between the animal aestimative faculty and the human cogitative faculty.
