Abstract

In this paper, Hume's ideas concerning the necessary conditions for political stability and progress are discussed. Furthermore, taking as a starting pointparting from Hume's personal "conservative" understanding of politics, this work offers ann incisive penetrating examination of the function and characteristics of the government, as well as important philosophical keys, in order to comprehend the nature of social progress.
