Abstract

This article elucidates the internal relationship between the concepts of intuition and freedom in Bergson’s philosophy. For this purpose, I discuss the methodological precautions needed to approach the problem and the notion of intuition as the origin of the articulation of a radical empiricism. I also address Bergson’s criticism of the Kantian approaches to the very notions of intuition and freedom. In this context, I highlight the Bergsonian conception of intuition as the heart of free acts within the framework of understanding the self as mixed.
