Peer-review process

Brief description of articles selection process

Revista Panamericana de Pedagogía is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal.

Every submission is first examined by the journal's Editorial Team, especially to determine whether the article fits the objectives of the journal. Authors are informed of this decision within 1 to 2 weeks of submission.

If a manuscript complies with the guidelines and is within the scope of the journal, the Editorial Team sends it to at least two external reviewers: subject experts who are not members of the journal's Editorial Team or Scientific Committee and who are affiliated with an institution different from that of the authors. If the two reports disagree, the manuscript is sent to a third external reviewer. The guidelines for reviewers and the criteria they apply relate to content quality, relevance, scientific character, interest of the subject, use of scientific methodology, and updated use of primary and secondary literature. The peer-review system is anonymous (double-blind).

Reviewers are advised to follow the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers, available at https://publicationethics.org/.

The final decision to accept or reject the article rests with the Editorial Team, based on the external reviewers' reports. Decisions are typically communicated within 6 weeks of submission.

Articles selection process in deep

The following outline summarizes the peer review process:

  1. Content quality, disciplinary relevance, scientific character, interest of the subject, use of scientific methodology, and updated use of primary and secondary literature.
  2. Relevance to the editorial line.
  3. Compliance with the submission requirements.
  4. Initial anti-plagiarism review.

In the case of non-compliance with criteria 2 and 3, the authors are informed and allowed to make corrections. If plagiarism is detected, and depending on its extent, the Editorial Team will inform the authors of the rejection or of the possibility of correction. If all criteria are met, the manuscript advances to peer review.

  1. Academic and research training and publications in the relevant field.
  2. No conflict of interest that may affect the evaluation process.
  3. Affiliation with an institution different from that of the authors, and no membership in the journal's Editorial Team or Scientific Committee.

The final publication decision rests with the Editorial Team, based on the external reviewers' reports, and requires compliance with the journal's style.

Authors whose articles have been accepted for publication agree to make the content, form and style corrections within the agreed period, which will depend on the complexity of the corrections and the publication schedule of the current issue.
