Design and coordination of a MOOC on reading and writing in the field of Communications

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a shift towards digital or distance teaching and learning. In this context, it is necessary to design open online courses that reach the largest number of (mass) learners. In the field of communication, cultural management, volunteering, socio-cultural animation processes, the promotion of reading and writing is more necessary than ever. Reading and writing are presented as basic and essential skills for young people and adults to be able to undertake in these digital environments because they are fundamental skills for educommunication. This paper presents the design and coordination of a MOOC on «Entrepreneurship in reading and writing», designed by the University of Valladolid and involving other Spanish universities and two polytechnic institutes in Portugal. As results, it explains the structure of the MOOC in its different modules and concludes by assessing the arduous task of coordinating the different educational resources of each module to achieve complementarity, as well as the balance between the different assessment systems chosen by each teacher participating in the MOOC.
