Abstract
This article proposes that the recent judicial reform implemented in Mexico is based on a degraded notion of democracy reduced to periodic elections. Furthermore, the reform was not oriented toward achieving the objectives it claims to pursue, which are to address the problems of the justice system. Finally, it proposes arguments to support the reform’s lack of true democratic credentials.
