¿Leibniz nominalista? Un examen crítico de la naturaleza y alcance del nominalismo leibniziano

Resumen

En el presente artículo, discuto el problema relativo a la naturaleza y alcance del nominalismo de Leibniz. Sobre la base de diversos manuscritos que comprenden desde la juventud hasta el período tardío de Leibniz, tomo en consideración la evidencia textual que refuta la interpretación según la cual él podría ser considerado como nominalista. Frente a esta interpretación, siguiendo a algunos estudiosos de Leibniz, sugiero que su ontología puede ser mejor entendida como conceptualista. Así, la tesis principal de esta investigación es que, aunque —en oposición a los escolásticos— Leibniz exhorta a eliminar o evitar el uso de términos abstractos o universales en el lenguaje filosófico, dadas algunas exigencias específicas de su ontología, él se vio empujado a rehabilitarlos.
