Resumen
El objetivo de este artículo es reconstruir de forma general los acuerdos y divergencias entre Daniel Dennett y Stephen Jay Gould subyacentes a la polémica que mantuvieron durante el último cuarto del siglo pasado. Muestro que en los cuestionamientos teóricos y metodológicos iniciales de Gould al adaptacionismo radical se encuentran ya esbozadas las razones que condujeron a la crisis tanto de la sociobiología como de la Psicología Evolucionista, y que la incapacidad de Dennett de comprender las motivaciones de los ataques de Gould al adaptacionismo radical se desprende de su decisión de abordar la polémica en torno a las credenciales epistemológicas de la Psicología Evolucionista desde una perspectiva exclusivamente teorética.
